QuestionI recently purchased a 2004 Chevy Impala and a Viper Alarm with remote start, kill swith, and a sensory keypad. I have been contemplating installing it because the more I ask around the more I get turned around. My questions to you are:
1: Can I install this type of alarm without it affecting my starter, battery, etc?
2: Do I need a bypass for installation?
3: I was told that Chevy has not made a bypass for the viper remote to unlock the doors using the keypad and that if I wanted this feature I would have to carry the factory keypad to auto unlock my doors. Is this info true?
4: Does my original alarm have a kill switch?
5: Is it just easier to keep the factory alarm?
Thanks in advance for your help.
Answer1: Can I install this type of alarm without it affecting my starter, battery, etc?<<<If installed correctly, this should not ba an issue.
2: Do I need a bypass for installation?<<<<<Yes you do, Passlock II in this car
3: I was told that Chevy has not made a bypass for the viper remote to unlock the doors using the keypad and that if I wanted this feature I would have to carry the factory keypad to auto unlock my doors. Is this info true?<<<<<This is a resisted single wire door lock system and will need the proper resissor and relays to make it interface with your alarm. Can be done.
4: Does my original alarm have a kill switch?<<<<the "kill switch" here is the GM PASSLOCK II SYSTEM. (see this at www.passlockbypass.com )
5: Is it just easier to keep the factory alarm?<<<<sure but not nearly as effective, or with the features included like the aftermarket piece.
Thanks in advance for your help.<<<<Welcome. Good luck with this project!
Have a good day.
