I'm researching security/alarm system options for a 69 VW hardtop with factory options (which were basically none). The car is fully restored with custom paint & interior. I recently saw a removable steering wheel (to take with you) and an interior surveillance camera on a TV show. Can you give me any info about these products? Any other suggestions you have for a middle priced comprehensive system would be appreciated.
Answer -
well, the removable steering wheel you can get
at a racing shop. Online or one near you.
The cctv setup is a bit costly though. The color
camera runs approx 175. and the fm transmitter
system is about 399. for up to 2 miles range.
Not a cheap way to go by any means. You can of course
do the camera, and then add a 12 volt VCR to tape
4 to 6 hours or more so you would catch the
perp, after the fact. But that would need to be
VERY well hidden in a 69 Bug.
Interesting project though.
Let me know what you settle on.

Great! Where can I find info on the camera/tracking systems? compare, price, installation, etc? Do you have any product recommendations?
AnswerHave a place to look at:

You can put together a nice set up there.
For the removable steering wheels, try:

and
http://homepage.ntlworld.com/roybooth/willfly/specification.html#quickrelease
For backround on them. (Momo makes a good one)
I hope this helps some.
