Clues:
1. You turn the key in the ignition, but nothing happens.
2. You hear a clicking sound when you turn the key.
3. The engine cranks but doesn't start.
4. The engine starts but runs rough.
5. The car starts and runs fine, but then stalls after a few minutes.
Possible Causes:
* Battery: The battery may be dead or weak. Check the battery terminals to make sure they are clean and tight. If the terminals are corroded, clean them with a baking soda and water solution. If the battery is dead, you will need to jump-start the car or replace the battery.
* Starter: The starter may be faulty. If you hear a clicking sound when you turn the key, the starter may be engaged but not turning the engine over. This could be due to a bad solenoid or a problem with the starter motor itself.
* Fuel: The car may not be getting enough fuel. Check the fuel level in the tank and make sure the fuel lines are not kinked or blocked. If the fuel filter is clogged, it may need to be replaced.
* Spark plugs: The spark plugs may be fouled or worn out. This can prevent the engine from getting the spark it needs to start. Check the spark plugs and replace them if necessary.
* Ignition coil: The ignition coil may be faulty. This can prevent the spark plugs from getting the power they need to fire. Check the ignition coil and replace it if necessary.
* Fuel pump: If you hear the engine cranking but it wont start, the fuel pump may be the cause. Check the fuel pump and replace it if necessary.
If you are unable to diagnose the problem yourself, you should take your car to a mechanic.
