Car Stereos: 98 dodge truck ft. speakers, dodge truck, amplifiers

on original speakers seems to be an electric brain with like 6 wires going in and the standard 2 coming out.  any speaker will work if you use the brain and the 2 wires if you by-pass brain, the speakers sound flat without much power. what am I dealing with here. do I need to get original speakers with this brain attached.

Hi Sam,

Your speakers are self-amplifying.

If you continue to use the factory deck, you're going to need to keep the amplifiers intact, or buy other self-amplified speakers.

If you buy an aftermarket deck, you can skip that part entirely.
