Car Stereos: dolby stereo, number six, leg work

Hello Scott,  I am trying to get the code for the Dolby stereo in my son's car.  I have the serial number of the radio.  I went to a dealer and gave them the VIN of the car and serial number from the radio.  They gave me a code which included the number six but the radio does not have a number six.  Could the stereo not be the original to the car? and if so should I be able to get the code from only the serial number?  I would appreciate  your help.  Many thanks.

Cindy, It sounds like you have done the leg work, and not been given good help.  That is unfortunate.  I would suggest calling the dealer's service department back and get instructions on the proper procedure to get the code put into the radio correctly.  I think you have all the information that is needed for them to help you.  Hope this helps, Scott
