Car Stereos: pioneer car cd/dvd player touch screen, internal amplifier, rca outputs
QuestionI have a pioneer p6600dvd,and it will turn on, and play the dvd's and cd's.But i can only get one channel to come in , and i can barley hear it. could you tell me what could be the problem is? and how do i fix it? is it even worth fixing?
AnswerHi Keith,
I can't say for sure what the problem is with your player; car audio repair isn't really my specialty. However, I'd suspect the internal amplifier is failing. This might mean that you could still use the unit with a separate 4-channel amplifier. It should be fairly easy to test the RCA outputs and see if they're functional; there's a good chance they're still working, even if the speaker outputs are not.
If the RCA outputs are working correctly, then I'd suggest shopping around for an inexpensive 4-channel amplifier. (You could even get away with a 2-channel amp, if you don't mind not being able to fade the volume between the front and rear speakers). If you don't want to buy an amplifier, though, then I think I'd replace the unit rather than having it serviced. Newer A/V head units have quite a few new features, especially if you'd like to use an iPod or store music on USB flash drives.
Hope this helps!
