Car Stereos: Intermittent car stereo output, 1996 infiniti j30, radio cassette cd

Hi Scott,

I've just bought a used 1996 infiniti J30. With the factory radio/cassette/CD unit BOSE PN-2083D

The audio cuts out intermittently. On for a few minutes, then the audio cuts out, comes back later.
When it cuts out it's still getting power, CD is seems to be playing and if in radio FM mode, will endlessly seek without finding a station.

Any ideas?

Tom,  This intermittent problem is usually based on a short where the rear connector attaches to the circuit board of the radio.  Normally, the radio must be removed and repaired by a professional.  That is where I would start.  Hope this helps, Scott
