Car Stereos: Power randomly turns off, dodge grand caravan, grand caravan

Hi Scott,

I drive a 1999 Dodge Grand Caravan.  The stereo is a factory stereo with cd and cassette player.  All of the sudden it is turning off as I am driving and resets the time or it will switch to cassette or other odd things.   I do know that my 3 year old has placed several coins in it that I can't get out, so I supposing that that is the main issue, but I wanted to see what your thought is.  We also had a DVD player in that quit working about a week after the other problems began.  We've purchased a new DVD player, but don't want to install it until we figure out the problem.  Thanks so much!

Patty,  Sounds like you have your hands full.  I remember those days well.  You are correct in assuming the problem is the headunit and/or its added monetary value.  The unit will need to be removed and repaired, and it should work just fine again.  Good Luck, Scott
