QuestionQUESTION: Scott, I see you answered a question about the same issue with a JVC radio that I have. There is no sound coming from the JVC. Everything lights up and the CD plays but no sound. In my case the Blue wire has a plastic cover and was not used and did not contact anything. I did not completely install the unit, but connected the 12V line, the ignition switch line and the ground and tried to produce sound with one speaker connected. I can not find exactly what wires are the speaker + and- wires, but tried both combinations with no luck. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

ANSWER: George, We all start out amateur. The best way to become professional is to admit when you make a mistake. I am not saying that you made a mistake on this job, but most problems stem from installation errors. Most factory wiring is matching, so the positive of one speaker will be a color and the negative will be the same color with a black line through it. Be sure you are using the leads from just one speaker. Also, I would connect all speakers to see if there may not be some other problems with the current setup. I would strongly recommend hooking it all up first. Hope this helps, Scott

QUESTION: Scott, here is what I found. The XG350 speakers require a separate power source going to the speakers. The blue wire from the JVC (amplifier or power antenna) has to be connected to the green/red wire in the car. Then the speakers work. I found this out by reconnecting the original radio and disconnecting wires one at a time to determine their function. So on the XG350 2003 model, the speakers need an auxiliary power source, which is supplied by the blue/white stripe wire from the JVC Model KD-R200. This should help you better answer these questions in the future.

ANSWER: George, that is great that you got it, and I totally appreciate the feedback! I do not get much individual feedback, so it is good to hear when things work out. On a side note, if you have read any more of my answers, you may have seen where I recommend using the red wire that goes to the radio to power anything else, because that wire is fused at the fuseblock. The blue wire or blue/white wire coming from the radio does not have fused protection, and if ever there is a short or loose wire attached to one of those wires, it will blow the radio's internal amplifier. I reommend insulating those wires well and not using them for anything. If it is already hooked up, I wouldn't worry too much about it, but just know if it does short, you will be repairing the radio. Congratulations on the install. Next you will be adding subs! ;-)

QUESTION: Scott, I still have a problem with the JVC radio in the 2003 Hyundai XG350XL. I can only get one station with FM/AM. The antenna is in the rear window. Is it possible that there is an amplifier wire for the antenna? I can not locate a wiring diagram for all the wires for the factory radio. There are some wires not used by the JVC.
Thanks, George Jan. 24, 2010.
AnswerGeorge, There is a strong possibility that the antenna wire has a break in it. Antenna wires are notoriously brittle and they can break and show no signs of breakage. I would recommend trying a new antenna wire temporarily to see if you can get more channels in. If so, then you can figure out a good way to install the new wire later. If the reception is still not working, it may be an internal problem. You should be able to find a jvc manual on the jvc website. You should be able to find your car's wire diagram at modifiedlife.com . Then, just match them up. I have a feeling the problem is lying in the antenna wire, but I hope not!! Good Luck, Scott
