Car Stereos: Car amplifier, car amplifier, audio cables
QuestionI've just installed an amp. in car and I took the proper steps to insure I woundn't short circuit n e thing...I have good ground, power directly to battery and new fuses but when I connect the RCA audio cables the red light on amp goes on and will stay on if wires r left connected. I have no sound from my woofer only from the rest of the speakers operating soley on radio power.
Any advice or clues to the problem need help??? Thank you.
AnswerHi,
I assume the red light is a "protect" indicator. Try disconnecting the sub and see if you still get the light without the sub connected. If you still have a protect light with no sub or speaker connected to the amp, then it's likely that there's an internal defect. Otherwise, you may have a problem with the sub itself, or the subwoofer wiring. If there's a shorted speaker wire, or if the sub has a shorted voice coil, it can trigger a protect light on the amp.
Hope this helps!
