Car Stereos: accord 2004 speakers that cut out or squeal loud and pop, speaker wires, squeal

My CD/Stereo system sound will cut out randomly. When it does you often hear a pop or squeal. Everything else appears to be working wether it be the stereo or CD player, just absolutely no sound from the speakers. I can often turn it off then back on to get  it to work again.

Marc, there is a short in the speaker wires.  Most commonly it is a worn wire in the driver's side door.  If you have front speakers in the doors, I would check the driver's side door jam for bare wires.  If there are no bare wires there, then you need to look elsewhere.  Somewhere, there is a short and that is what happens when it hits a ground.  Hope this helps, Scott
