Car Stereos: Pontiac G6 6 disc cd changer, pontiac g6, negative battery

The battery in my 2005 G6 recently went dead and when I replaced it did not recognize that I had 6 cd in the changer, now it will not eject or even try to load new disc. How do I get the disc in  the changer out without damaging my CD player?

Hi Jamie,

From what I can tell, this appears to be a common issue with GM's 6-disk changer systems.  It shouldn't be necessary to replace the radio, or even remove it for repair; but you'll probably need to make a trip to the dealer so they can update the system's control software.  

You can try disconnecting the negative battery terminal, then re-connecting it again to see if it will reset the system.  It's worth a try, but my guess is that you'll ultimately need to call your dealer's service department for a fix.
