QuestionApparently the above-noted unit in my 2001 Infinity QX4 is garbage. There have been several problems with these systems and now I cannot get my CD's out of the player as it just reads "error". Clarion made the system with the Bose name and I will also contact them to see why they jam. In the interim, how can I get my new CD's out without damaging them? Does the unit have to be taken out of the vehicle and if so, then could I use one CD at a time instead of all 6 so that one will work? One is better than nothing right now. I don't want to spend more money on an after market system because the labour and parts to "bypass" the Bose wiring will be extensive - or so I'm told.
Thank you!
AnswerHi Wendi,
Unfortunately, the only way to reasonably get your CDs back is likely to remove the changer from the vehicle, and disassemble it.
I wouldn't trust it with any more CDs ever again if it were me.
And for what it's worth, a new aftermarket system would not be expensive. You can get an OK deck for ~$100, and get the factory integration adapter to make it work in your vehicle for ~$50. Installation shouldn't be more than $50 or so since an experienced installer can install it in less than half an hour.
http://www.crutchfield.com/ can get you all of the hardware and the deck you need for even less.

When I say "OK", I mean as far as features go -- it will almost indefinitely sound as good ( or better ) than your current system, and you'll get your CD functionality back.
You can try pulling the fuse and putting it back, but it's possible (and likely) it will do nothing. I hope it works, though.
Good luck!
