Car Stereos: speakers, rear speakers, back deck

hi scott. my problem is that the back deck speakers in my 1999 grand prix, just stopped working. i have power to both speakers. i used an old speaker with leads to the cone on each speaker, with getting sound out of the old speaker. i'm lost. hope you could help. thanks, dan

Dan, if you connected your old speaker to the leads that are going into your rear speakers, and it works; your deck speakers must be ruined.  Perhaps they were made cheaply and the leads inside the speaker came loose from the coil.  Whatever the case, you should be able to buy new speakers and install them and problem solved.  I wish everyone had the foresight to check the speaker leads before coming to me.  Hope this helps, Scott
