Car Stereos: Acura TL factory sub wont power on, acura tl, acura owners
Questionhi brian
i have the same question as Gevaldo, just got a kenwood Deck put in my 2000 acura tl, the four door speakers are working, but them sub seems to have no power going to it? i was wondering if you found out how you would do the custom wiring? pics would be great. thanks

AnswerHi Vien,
Sorry, no pictures; but I found a couple different threads on an Acura owners' forum describing how to activate the rear subwoofer in the TL. Basically it's a matter of connecting a signal source to the sub amplifier's input wiring, then connecting voltage to the amplifier's turn-on wire (just like you'd activate an after-market amplifier). If your new head unit has a subwoofer output, you can use that as your signal source; that will allow you to adjust the stock subwoofer's volume via your head unit's subwoofer level control.
Here are the forum links:

Both of these approach the problem by making the connections at the factory amplifier location. The same thing can be done at the 12-pin black plug behind the head unit; this plug contains the amplifier's remote turn-on wires and the signal wires, but unfortunately I can't find specific wire color information for this plug. Hopefully sometime soon I'll get a TL to work on and can do some testing for myself.
Hope this helps!
