Car Stereos: Stereo, monte carlo ss, decent stereo
QuestionI have a 2001 Monte Carlo SS. My stereo has no sound and neither does my dash. I have already had the fuses checked
and they are fine. What else could it be and what is the cost to repair?
AnswerIt sounds like the radio has a short in it, and it will have to be removed to be repaired. If you take it to a decent stereo shop, they should charge you about $150 to remove, repair, and reinstall your radio. If you go to a dealer, they will probably want to replace the radio, and it will cost quite a bit more. Probably about $400. Sorry for the costly diagnosis. If there is no lights coming on the radio, it may just be a loose connection somewhere, but if there are lights, then it is probably a short as I mentioned above. Hope this helps, Scott
