Car Stereos: installation, sony radio, car wiring

i have a 1990 jaguar an want to put in a new radio. do i need a wiring kit or some kind of harness. its a sony radio

Yes, it is best to get an adapter wiring harness.  It plugs directly into your car wiring plug, and it provides you with the schematic, so you know which colored wire goes to which wire from your stereo.  If you didn't get the adapter harness, you would have to cut the wires going to the plug and guess which ones go where.  Hope this helps, Scott
