Car Stereos: Subwoofer makes a loud thump, loud thump, car receiver

Hello, I just recently just set up a system and everything works. Just that when i turn on the car receiver my subwoofer would always make a loud thump. Even when you turn off the receiver it will make that noise. Could it be a possible short? or bad rca wires coming from the receiver? Thank You.

Hi Randy,

Is it a cheaper amplifier?  Some amplifiers will let a 'pop' out when they turn on that doesn't get filtered and ends up being output as sound.

Another thing you can try that *might* work is to turn the volume way down before you turn the system off.
