Car Stereos: cd player error msg., single cd player, laser cleaning

Question
When I place a cd into my player, the msg. cd er-0001 appears.  I have no idea what this means.  I own a 2002 Ford Escape.  It is a single cd player/radio.  no cassette

Hi Karen,

ER-0001 means it can't read the disc.  The first thing to try is to get a laser cleaning disc.  If that doesn't do it, unfortunately, your cheapest option is just to replace the thing with aftermarket (unless you can get a cheap one used).
