Car Stereos: amp and subwoofer, max ratings, wattage

i have a 1300 12' sony sub, and a 1000 watts sony amp......if i max out my amp could i blow my sub....

Hi Pogi,

The wattage on amps and subwoofers today are not really fair numbers, since they do all sorts of things to bend those numbers and they're 'max' ratings anyway, not actual RMS.

That said, yes, it certainly is possible to blow a subwoofer with a higher wattage than the amp it's connected to.
