BMW Repair: 1997 528i traction control light, front wheel bearings, wheel speed
QuestionA while ago my traction control light (amber) came one and has remained on. The car has 110k miles on it and I just replaced both front wheel bearings, both front wheel speed sensors were dirty so I cleaned them off. I though this could be the cause of the traction control light. My question is can a front wheel speed sensor cause the traction control light to come one, or only a read speed sensor failure? Does the light clear itself when the fault goes away or does it need to be reset?
AnswerKevin, a faulty wheel speed sensor can cause a traction control light. The faults should be read out and fault cleared and retested. The faults don't clear themselves. Any wheel speed sensor can cause a Light. The fault my not even be with a wheel speed sensor. Be sure to ask for a copy of your fault print outs.
