BMW Repair: 323i Push buttons on center console, push button switches, hook tool

Hi Evan,

I have a 2000 BMW 323i.  It has 2 push button switches in the center for hazard lights and central locking.  Nothing happens when I push either one.  I cannot turn on the hazards or lock/unlock the car with this button.  However, the central lock works with my keys.  Any suggestions what the problem might be?

Helmut, replace the switch. It just pulls straight up, use a hook tool or pull the shifter knob straight up and remove surrounding plastic with same method and you should be able to get to the back side of the switch to push it up and out of the console. They are not very expensive.
