BMW Repair: motor cuts out, scheid, redline

I have just purchased a 325i it is a 84 and has 270,000 miles.  When driving  it has a flat spot or seems to cut out.  Any suggestions?  Also is there adjustment on the clutch?

BMW did not produce a 325i in 1984......the 325e was produced from 84-86 in 87 the 325i was produced from 1987-1991/2.  If your car has a 6500 RPM redline than you have an i motor if it redlines at 4500 rpm than you have an e motor. let me know which you have and i can help you more.
