BMW Repair: remove headlight glass, realoem, spring metal

Question
I have a bmw 1994 316 my headlight got hit with a stone and the glass is brocken but the two lens covers are intact.
I want to replace only the glass large flat glass part that covers the two lenses.

is this possible and how do I remove the cover I see that there are two spring metal clips, I took these off but the cover still wont move there are also three plasic tabs that clip loose, i have the loose but the glass is still tight , what do I do to get the glass off so that I can replace it ?

 I'm not sure if you can buy JUST the cover for the headlights.  I would check that at a dealership or online parts warehouse.
