BMW Repair: Transmission, error light, trans program

Question
I have just replaced my transmission on my 1992BMW 525 touring. An error light appears on the dash trans program. How do I get rid of this error message?

Did you also replace the transmission computer? Unfortunately the E36's which I am most familiar with do not have that Transmission Light so I have never had to reset one after installing a transmission. I would assume it can only be done at BMW (specialized tool).. The SRS light is the same way ... a OBD1 reader will not diagnose and reset anything but the check engine light and ABS light on bimmers.
