BMW Repair: Control arm repair, bmw 330 ci, wheel alignment

Question
Vehicle - 2001 BMW, 330 ci coupe.  101K miles.
Dealer suggests replacing the lower control arms & bushings.  Then a wheel alignment.
Is this type of repair that I could do myself?
I'm handy, but have not done much car repair.
Any special tools needed?
Are the bushings only a possible fix?
Should I up-grade the bushing materials?

I would suggest you contac PelicanParts on the web or call them at 888-280-7799.  They have a vert good staff there that can sell you the parts at a reasonable price with info on installing.They also carry upgrades but unless you are a street racer it isnt needed.
