BMW Repair: Interior door handles, pinkie finger, phoenix area

I have a 1998 528i, I have broken THREE driver side interior door handles!  I eat spinich but give me a break.....can I get metal ones somewhere?  What am I doing wrong?  I bought the car used in 2001.

how much effort does it take to unlatch the door?  does the door open when the handle is 1/2 way pulled or do you haveto pull the handle all the way to it's extent before the door opens?  i think is't quite possible you have an adjustment problem on the bar leading to the latch.  you should be able to open the door with a 12 year old childs pinkie finger and it should open within 1/2 inch of travel.
