QuestionQUESTION: The engine does not want to start right when I hit the starter. It will try and maybe hit once. If I keep trying the battery runs down, but if I just keep hitting starter, it will eventually start.
I have checked the fuel pressure and it is between 55 and 60 pounds.
Thanks for taking my question.
ANSWER: when you say hit the starter are you meaning by turning the key or physically hitting it?

QUESTION: Sorry, I mean by turning the key and crank the engine. It seems if you continue to crank all you do is run the battery down. But a series of turning the engine over a revolution or two it will start. It does no good to pump the throttle either.
Thanks for taking my question.

Answersounds like the fuel pump might have a weak check vavle. Try turning the key on, the off then back on quickly without starting, do it two times in a row and see if it fires up, if it does you will need a fuel pump. When the fuel pump first turns on it sends a predetermined amount of fuel, if the check valve is weak it is unable to keep that amount in the line.
