GMC Repair: Spark plugs, bosch platinum, gm vehicle

Question
I have a 1998 Chevy Silverado, extended cab pickup with a 5.7 engine.  It has 75,000 miles on it.  I cannot get a answer in regards to which type of spark plug I should use.  Some say the Bosch Platinum 2 is the one and some say absolutely no.  
What is your opinion and advise as to which type spark plugs to use.
The engine is all original in a respects.

GM vehicles for some unknown ungodly reason do NOT like any plugs except the brand that came with the engine when it was built.

I have seen people put champion, Bosch, japanese, chinese, european, and WHO-FLUNG-DUNG plugs in a GM vehicle and after a few hundred miles and it ran like dog crap on numerous occsssions.
