GMC Repair: Power Steering Pump emoval, power steering pump, gmc suburban
Question'92 GMC Suburban - 1500 - 350 V8 - 4WD
It looks like I have to remove the power steering pump pulley to remove the power steering pump. I think I'm going to need a special tool to remove and re-install the pulley. Is there a bolt that needs to be removed prior to removing the pulley? If there is, does the bolt have regular threads or reverse threads and how do I keep the pulley from turning?
Thank you.
Bill J.
AnswerYES, there is a special removal/installer tool that MUST be used or you WILL BEND the pulley.
The special tool ahs a notch in it where a wrench holds the tool in place so the pulley won't turn as you remove it.
Most autozone or similar parts stores have this tool.
