GMC Repair: 2001 CHEVY MALIBU ALARM SYSTEM, chevy malibu, back lot
QuestionMY WIFE BOUGHT A PRE-OWNED MALIBU THREE YEARS AGO AND NOW THE ALARM SYSTEM IS ACTIVATING WHICH PREVENT IT FROM STARTING EVERY FOUR TO FIVE DAYS.THE THEFT SYSTEM LIGHT KEEP BLINKING AND I TOOK IT TO THE DEALER AND WAS TOLD THAT IT WILL COST $2,000.00 TO TAKE THE ALARM SYSTEM OUT. IN THE MEAN TIME MY CAR KEEP STOPPING ON ME. DO YOU HAVE ANY SUGGESTION?IT IS A 2001 CHEVY MALIBU
AnswerI am quite surprised that a dealer would even make such a suggestion as to REMOVE the alarm system.
1. In some states this is illegal.
2. Most insurance companies will RAISE your car insurance if you remove/disable the system.
There are some back lot facilities that will remove/disbale it but it will still cost you at least $500.00.
I do NOT approve and or give out this type of disarming information.
I really do not have an HONEST answer for you.
My apologies,
