can something be put in your gas tank to destroy your motor, found no sugar traces

it sounds like you think someone was up to know good .
thire is a lot of ways to destroy a eng . does not have to be sugar in some casees did not work any way . now a days they put sugar in the oil fill . or syurps like maple syp. this is much  worth then in the gas tank have your oil checked . can you tell me what happend and maybe i can figer this out .
