GMC Repair: 98 jimmy fuel pump, special tools, fuel pump

I'm an VW tech in Califonia, my wife has a 98 jimmy and the fuel pump has been noisy and went out yesterday. Is there top access or do  I need to drop the tank? And any special tools needed?

Answer
DROP the tank and replace the pump and the micro-screen at the base of the pickup tube.

NOTE: There is a seperate black ground wire that is attached to the vehiucles frame by a 7mm bolt. Make SURE that you reconnect it or the pump will NOT run and it will drive you NUTS trying to figure out WHY.

No special tools needed.
