Prius Puzzler - oil overfilled?

It's unlikely that your Prius' oil was overfilled by the dealership. Toyota dealerships have strict procedures and trained technicians who are very careful when changing oil. If you're concerned, you can check the oil level yourself using the dipstick.

Here's how:

1. Make sure the car is parked on a level surface and has been turned off for at least 5 minutes.

2. Open the hood of your Prius.

3. Locate the oil dipstick. It's usually a yellow or orange handle located near the engine oil filler cap.

4. Pull out the dipstick and wipe it clean with a paper towel.

5. Reinsert the dipstick into the tube until it stops.

6. Pull it out again and check the oil level. It should be between the "Full" and "Add" marks on the dipstick.

If the oil level is above the "Full" mark, you can remove some oil using an oil extractor or by draining the oil pan. It's important to make sure the oil level is correct, as too much oil can cause engine damage.
