Alfa Romeo Repair: Alfa 156 Twin Spark Belt Tensioner, right angle drill, allen bolt
QuestionI have a 1998 2.0 litre twin spark 156. The bolt holding the FEAD belt tensioner sheared off whilst driving. I have the tensioner and most of the bolt, thanks to the large undertray!
How do I get access to the front of the block to get the rest of the bolt out? Do I have to drop the engine out? If so, how is the best way to approach this? Many thanks
AnswerI am in Calif. No access to that model. However, these situations call for a right angle drill and a mechanics length bit to drill into the bolt deep enough for an extractor to be used. Use an allen bolt as a replacement (they are by definition a hardened bolt).
