Question -
I have a '92 spider and I need a starter. When I tried to purchase a remanufactured starter I was told I could use the model for the 1986-89 model. Will this work in my car?
Answer -
Yes. Carefully check the battery cables for corrosion.
Thanks so much for you quick response. I will check the battery cable. Please excuse my ignorance! Will battery cable corrosion cause a starter problem? Tnanks again.
AnswerYes. Also, a faulty ignition switch can be the cause. Run a
wire directly from the positive battery post to the spade
terminal on the starter to bypass the ignition switch.
And, if you hear a click, click, click when in start position, then the problem is the battery or its cables.
