American Motors: Jeep CJ Steering Column Gear Indicator, gm steering column, jeep cj
Question
Jeep CJ Auto Column Ge
I have a 81 Jeep CJ with GM steering column. What type of column is this? I am trying to find a replacement part - automatic shift gear indicator, that sits on top of the column for automatic transmissions.
Jeep is 1981 CJ8 with I6 and TF999 tranny, but a GM column. I can't figure out the type of column to find that GM part.
AnswerThe steering column is made by Saginaw, a GM subsidary. There are parts that are interchangable from a GM vehicle as they also used the same basic column.
If you need a part for yours, try calling Collier AMC in Pikeville, NC. They are an old AMC dealer and have hundreds of AMC parts cars on their lot. Their number is 919-242-4462, ask for Mr. Collier.
