Audio Systems: conveter for my car, chevelet, headphone jack

do i really need a converter for my 2009 chevelet malibu? it has a aux plug in already..its a factory radio..it has cd player already..also a aux plug in..my ipod plugs from itself to the headphone jack on the radio n says "aux" when i pug it in...n plays my ipod...
