Audio Systems: Bose 6CD auto player, mercedes dealer, mercedes benz

Question
The discs will  not change.  I get an error display when I select a button from
the dash display,  I have checked the disc holder and the cd's are properly
inserted.
HELP!!
The changer is in a 1998 Mercedes Benz.   i bought it used, the car, so I dont
know if this was an after market item.

Yes, it would be an aftermarket installation and, unfortunately, the Bose is not a compatible model for MB so that means most certainly it is a custom install.  Nothing wrong with a custom install but one must know what the deal with it is.

The problem may be a simple one with wiring or loose cable or something like that but most likely it is a defective changer.  

Did it work when you first bot the car?  If no, it is likely a long standing problem. If it did work and has now failed it means that most likely something has just now failed.

I have no idea what it could be other than above.  I suggest you take it into an independent car installer/repair shop where they have people that know how to troubleshoot.  Do not take it to a Mercedes dealer unless you want to spend alot of money and get very little help as car dealers do not, in most cases, have audio specialists on staff.
