QuestionQUESTION: Hi!
I'm currently building a small PA system (70v / 60w total) for a friend and need your advice on one small aspect:
The system will have 2 different "zones" (ie. separate wiring from the amp). the first zone will have a 70v attenuator to control the volume but for the second, I just need on/off control. Now, this may sound like a stupid question but could I just use a typical 120v on/off switch (SPST)... or do I absolutely need another 70v attenuator?
Thanks in advance! :)
ANSWER: Is this on/off for Zone 2 only or for the entire system? Also, so I don't set you on fire, can I get some pictures of the system?

QUESTION: LOL! :)
It's for zone 2 only. No pictures yet as I'm in the process of ordering the parts for the system but I've hand drawn a small diagram to show you what I mean. Oh, and the max. cable run will be about 250 feet.
Thanks for your help Kyle!

AnswerActually, either will work. A simple on/off will work just fine. You may run into some issues with the circuit staying open though. Some amps get testy when you turn 1 zone off and still turn the other zone up or down. It may not happen but it is a possibility. If this becomes an issue, a mono 8 ohm volume control may be the better route. Good luck.
