Audio Systems: Audi A6 Radio issue, audi a4 s4, plastic pillar

Hello, Ernesto - I have the 2000 Audi A6 2.7....The FM radio works fine, but AM is 100% loud static --- zero reception.  Dealer advises it needs a Diversity Box/DX Booster....to the tune of $830!  Do you have any recommendations to avoid this highway robbery?

do you have window tinting  on the back  window ?
there are 2

1 in the trunk the other next to the rear window behind the plastic pillar cover

you need to find it and see if there is 12 volts when the radio is on
they never go bad
