I saw a guide to replace the factory monsoon headunit with a aftermarket headunit. Does the monsoon amp in the trunk still work like its supposed to.(i.e. turn on and off properly

yes you can do that and it will work  but remember the radio that you are installing is a high output radio this will blow the moonson amplifier in a few weeks  make sure you use  a  4-Channel Line Output Converter

don't let installers tell you that you don't need one ,or read my previous questions  there are 6 this year with damage moonson amplifiers ,they all use new radios
