Audio Systems: Radio problem on 01 Taurus wagon, taurus wagon, single cd player

Question
The radio on my 01 taurus wagon does not lock in on any AM/FM stations and all I get out of all the speakers is static noise. However I can play and hear audio from the single CD player. I tried replacing the console unit with one from a junk yard thinking the radio was defective but I got the same results. Could it be the ACU? The antenna goes up/down when I turn the radio on/off and the coax cable leading from the antenna to a jack in the back near the spare tire seems fine. What should I try next? I thank you for any comments in advance !!!!

that is not a radio

the radio is in the trunk and it is defective this unit is in the left side of the trun behind the fender

pull it out and send it to get service  or buy one from oemautosound
