Audio Systems: digital adapter for 1996 Ford Explorer Eddie Bauer, ford explorer eddie bauer, explorer eddie bauer

Purchased Harmon Cardon "drive and play" for "I-Pod" for our daughters 1996 Eddie Bauer Explorer for Christmas.  I would like to locate digital adapter for the JBL head unit so I can use the digital "RCA" supplied with the "drive and play" to get best sound..  Please advise supplier for such adapters..  Thanks in advance for your expertise
