Audio Systems: ProTools, dual disc, professional users

Hi.  Do you know anything about ProTools and how to run it?  I also wanted to know how much it costs to get the program.  I have seen Barry Manilow use it on his dual disc of the 70s CD and I am starting to get interested in it.

I have never used it.  I believe it to be a good set of software, however. It has many levels of implementation from the $1.5k area up to $80k for big professional users.
