QuestionI drive a '97 cavalier and have been having this problem since i got this unit.
It is a 2005 Alpine (CDA-9853), and i have two sony xplods in the doors, and 2 sony xplods in the rear of my car (unsure of the exact size).
Whenever the volume surpasses the 20-23 mark, the unit shuts off and the display retracts as if i had pressed the power button. As soon as the faceplate/display is fully retracted, it comes back on.
When listening to music with more bass to it, e.g.;rap, it shuts off at a lower level, usually around 18.
please, god, what can i do to fix this?
AnswerI am not God, but I am pretty good at this. ;)
If the ground and all other connections are secure, it may be that your charging system is having trouble keeping the proper voltage levels. Have the battery and charging system load-tested.
Otherwise, avoid bass-oriented music and high volume levels until you get it fixed.
