Audio Systems: Amp, vw jetta, vw passat

Question
I have an 02 VW passat 1.8 T and i got a 1000 watt amp for free and i was wondering if my car can power it.

shouldn't be a prob.  the only problem I had when putting a system into a VW (jetta to be specific but the passat's probably the same) was getting through the firewall with the power wire.  in fact, I decided to skip the firewall since the jetta had a very beefy wire that ran from the car battery to a power distribution block under the steering wheel.  I just tapped on with my 8 gauge power line there.  I decided to use a rear battery to help out but then again I had 3 amplifiers in that car.
