QuestionI have a 2003 Matrix XRS with its factory 6 speaker single CD/Cassette/Radio. (Further details available.)
I replaced the four main door speakers but not the tweeters (on the inside top of the front doors next to the side mirrors). The system worked well for two years. Then, a ditzy (now-ex) girlfriend played it too loudly while she was driving it and the problems began. It began with just the front right door speaker but now both front door speakers have the below problem.
What has happened is that the main front door speakers' output has devolved to being a faint tinny sound essentially equivalent to the sound of the little factory tweeters.
I've been modifying and working on car audio systems for me and my friends, (hobby) since the 70's, and am not incompetent. I imagine that you might have questions but I guess I'll await your response.
If you wish to call me, my phone number is below. THANKS. Mitchell. THANKS!

Answerthere is a factory jbl amplifier inside the dash of that vehicle this amplifier works at 5 to 6 ohms
when you install the new speakers they are 4 ohms and it is also the reason why it sound good after the installation,
you got a little more power from the amplifier but it is a also a little of abuse on the amplifier
the pronlem is that this amplifier is going bad now
in side this amplifier there is two amplifiers front and rear
amplifier needs to be service
good luck
