Audio Systems: wiring harness for mercedes 86, wiring harness, homedepot

I bought a 1986 Mercedes without a radio, went to have one installed and was told the wiring harness for a Benz was hard to get and it would cost $150.00 just for the harness [ouch]. Does that seem right?

no not at all.  in fact you dont need a harness at all if you just put a meter across all the wires to see what is what.  I can send you my guide on how to do that if you like. I actually own an 85 500 SEL and had absolutely no problem putting my own system in it.  Cant remember if I was able to get a harness or not.  Go to www.crutchfield.com and fill out "find what fits my car" to see if there's a harness for your car, but if not, write me back for the directions on using a meter.  If you dont have a meter, you can get one for about $18 at walmart or homedepot or lowwes.
