Audio Systems: radio audio cuts out, cd disk very hot, sound radio, plastic rings

I replace speakers in a 96 dodge ram, had premiun sound.radio replaced with esclipse.new speakers are not amplified. I believe I might have shorted out + side of speaker while on, no sound for awhile but came back on
but will last about an hour

if you replace the speakers they need to be the same orginals infinity they are 2.0 ohms speakers and there is a samll amplifier behind the speaker

did you replace the radio also ?

in that case id the metal of the speakers are touching the the metal in the door the radio gets ground and it goes mute
remove the spakers from the door and play the stereo gain don't unplug the speakers if it works ok  try to get plastic rings for the speakers
